Dave,

Try  using  cooking oil, like corn or canola oil on an old dish rag.  Rub 
it a while, then leave the oily rag on the bad area of your White 
Board,  and rub some more later.   I  have had good luck removing even 
"permanent"  magic marker.

Cooking oil also works "better" than anything else that I have ever 
tried  on getting oil based paint and roofing tar out of   clothing.  Rub 
the oil in a little,   let it "rest" in a bucket a while,  make a small 
batch machine wash in good detergent.  If it isn't all out,  take the damp 
fabric fresh from the washer, rub more cooking oil in. and repeat the process.
