Dave;

    From experience, enamel will mark well with one of those dry
markers, won't come off either, penetrates into the surface. Doesn't
make a permanent dark mark, just leaves a very noticeable "shadow".  I
even used a little rubbing compound, the mark went deeper than I
wanted to go.
