I seem to remember reading in Popular Mechanics, that propylene glycol is just as toxic as ethylene glycol. The reason it held less danger for children and animals was that it did not have the 'sweet' taste that ethylene glycol does, therefore they are less likly to drink enough to do any damage. Just enough to find out it tastes bad.
That information was retrived, after years of storage, from an ethanol abused brain. I do stand to be corrected.
