Jerry,
What a coincidence. I made one very similar, only the individual rods 
became intertwined into a tree like base, and the eight branches were 
the same height. As to the comment that menorahs are not just for 
Chanukah, that's kind of right. Seven branched menorahs are a 
traditional relic of the original temples, and individual candle sticks 
are very traditional for Sabbath candles.
