Well there are two types of menorah's, one is the standard seven candle 
type used daily in some homes and synagogues and then there is the eight 
candle ones that are used for the Hanukkah celebration.
If you Goggle Menorahs, you will see there is no restriction on size, 
style or anything,  "anything goes"
As for as kosher, I don't think so...
Maybe if was going to be used in a synagogues it might have to be 
blessed and not made from pig skin,
other then that "anything goes"
I have known  smiths who have made good money making high end creative 
and elegant menorahs,
and no lightning bolts have come down to strike them.
