Warren Tool Co., Warren, Michigan makes sledge hammers in all sizes from
2# up to 20.  They closed their forge plant in Fayetteville, Ark. about
10 years ago and moved home.  At the time they imported the smaller
heads from China, put their own handles in, as they could not make them
as cheaply.(Side note: I've been told that all Chinese hammers are
similar to W-1 steel)  I have several Warren hammers, including a 20#
monster that I use for psychological value when having to drive a ground
rod.  Just the presence of the big hammer in the truck has made many
rods just slip into the ground with my driver, without having to resort
to actually dragging that thing out and using it...
