Yeah, SCA allows kids to fight with "boffer" swords in some Kingdoms. One of my
Household members is involved in it. If you're interested in knowing more, I'll
be happy to get you in contact with him- for what it's worth, SCA is EXTREMELY
careful about safety issues- too much so in some cases, so if they approve it,
it's likely to be as safe as possible.
