George,

I feel for you, but the water over this dam, has already found its way to
the ocean.

Bill Fiorini probably has no clue who I am, but I have met, listened to,
and like him.

In my best judgement, this is a "No Win" situation for him, or any current
or past ABANA board members.

There is no profit or power motive: people like Bill serve a term or two on
the ABANA board, wear down, and vacate the position so that someone else
will serve.

Yes, Group dynamics, like high school peer pressure can change how a given
board of directors vote: But from my experience, most "candidate" members
of a board when presented with the same set of issues/ facts will vote the
same way.

Bar talk after a meeting, I have heard various (non-ABANA ) board members
that found themselves having voted for, or voting against an issue , berate
the leader that "won", but that doesn't change the position taken by the
board on that given issue.

My point is that, had you NOT been personally involved with ABANA
publications, but rather, if you were a sitting ABANA board member, that
odds are you would have supported the ABANA board's position.

I believe that the worst mistake is often not the mistake, but rather not
trying something that looks like it should be an improvement.

I say this from the perspective of being the occasionally "odd man
out". My one vote occasionally changing the out come of an entire board
of director vote. It only happens if you speak your case well, and present
your issue without an apparent chip on your shoulder. One quickly learns
to spend their chips wisely. Too many confrontations results in too few
chips left to influence anything. I also admit to being the one that
"won over" a few boards to a view point that I later found to be "wrong".
