To the members of "the forge" community:
It has come to my attention that there are some questions about the
ABANA conference finances. In the past there have been some problems
obtaining information about the finances of conferences. This is not
the case with the 2002 conference.
From the initial planning of the conference there has been outside
review of the finances by a CPA firm. Reports have been issued through
the end of April and May figures are due in the next week. I have also
kept a complete set of up to the minute computerized records. All of
this information has been reviewed on a regular basis by conference
personnel.
When the books are closed on the conference, a report from the
accounting firm will be issued. The report will be available to the
membership of ABANA. If the final report does not satisfy an ABANA
member, they are free to make arrangements with a certified accounting
firm of their choice, to review "the books". All information will be
made available to a responsible representative. But, remember that
ABANA has made all necessary reports available to the membership. Any
and ALL expenses incurred in additional reviews are the REQUESTING
PARTY'S RESPONSIBILITY.
Also, since additional reviews are beyond the duties of the Treasurer
of ABANA, my time in compiling information would be billed out to the
requesting party. I bill at $60.00 per hour.
If you have any requests for additional reviews, please contact me at
P.O. Box 475; Sterling, AK 99672.
William L. Hightower
Treasurer for ABANA
