Blacksmithing is just a hobby for me, but I have done well by my web site
for getting the work I need to pay expenses and a bit more. In fact I have
not had to promote myself locally as I get all the business I need from the
web site. Even though I am located in Canada, 85% of my clients are
American.
Once the search engines recognize your site, you will be surprised at the
interest it generates.
Good luck!

Subject: [TheForge] Using the Web for Business
Greetings,
I am trying to determine how successful blacksmiths and metal artists
feel the web is as a advertising medium. A lot of small businesses are
using the web to target existing customers for continued business, but
are having mixed success using web sites as a method of attracting new
customers.
If this is off topic for the list you can reply to me directly, but I
would like to hear stories both of success and failures, web pages you
think are especially successful and other comments and observations.
Thanks,
edge
