| Actually, DC braking is the best and uses very little current. The diagram
| in the website cited shows the braking voltage from a 12V battery. Since
the
| DC resistance of a motor is only a few Ohms, only a low voltage at a few
| amps is needed for braking. The larger the current the greater the braking
| action. Braking voltage should be turned off when the motor stops.

| You can use line voltage through a 200V or better rectifier for the
braking
| voltage. Limit the current with a 100W light bulb, makes a easy ballast
| resistor and as a bonus, shows the current flow.
