[TheForge] Air compressor and ABANA

If all you care about is getting air to a particular place and aren't
really picky about the quality of air, the 3/4 inch will do that well.
If you want good quality air and don't want water building up in the
lines, go LARGE with a run through the shop. Place several drip leg
drains on the bottom of the main to keep it drained and take all of
your runs off of the top of the main.
Run EVERYTHING down from the main in at least 3/4 inch with a drip
leg and drain valve, below EVERY outlet. Filter the air going into
the compressor and water/oil filter the air going into anything
sensitive,( my plasma cutter calls for a special water filter,
probably is overkill, but will eliminate that as a warranty argument
if it becomes necessary). Some day you'll decide to do paint work on
the wood shop end of this line and you'll curse the day you installed
the 3/4 inch line for the main.

I've heard the warnings about PVC, have only heard of one system
using PVC ever "blowing up", though you are getting to the upper
pressure limits for it's working strength, then if you are going to
air hammer it.... so, perhaps, no PVC. However, PVC is easier and
cheaper to run and a compressor could be fitted with a "low pressure"
switch, so if the pressure gets below a certain level you have to
manually override the switch until the system got back above that
pressure, say 30 lbs.

It all works, just some's better'n others.
