[TheForge] water on the fire and how much fuel?

I wet my coal down before putting it on the fire. This is mainlly because I
had storred it outside last winter and it got wet and then froze. This
created a lot of fines which need to be made into a paste before burning.
When the paste gets hot it cokes up nicelly and burns just like I had
started with clean coal. I don't very often put water on the fire, the one
exception is when I bank it for lunch I wet it down so that it doesn't burn
too much coal before I get back.

I have seen demonstrations where instead of a can of water they use a wet
rag to control the fire. This prevents water hitting the fire pot. I haven't
used this but it makes sence.
