Aaron, I think you may be reading more into Bill's words than is
warranted.  In the forst staement he says he dod not SIGN FOR A BID.
In the second he says he signed for a PACKAGE which he sis not open.
This could be a simple misunderstanding or an imprecise use of language,
which is common enough among people.  Or Bill may have had a very
specific meaning is saying he did not sign for a bid, as in signing off
ON a bid.  I don't know.  All I'm saying is the fact that I can read
his words about three different ways right off the top of my head,
including your way, shows that there is some imprecise communication
occuring here.  Perhaps Bill would be willing to indulge us just a
little bit further by latting us know his precise meaning.

I would warn all of us, myself included, from jumping to conclusions
when the wording of a passage is not absolutely precise.  Yes, it takes
a bit of careful analysis and consideration to determine whether there
is more than one possible interpretation of a sentence. Given that
the reputations of people are at stake, it is far preferable to err on
the side of caution and mindful care than to cause harm to a man's good
name through prematurely coming to conclusions.  This is just my
opinion.

As I mentioned before, I would be very surprised to find that Bill was
playing fast and loose with the truth.  It would take far more evidence
than what I have seen here for me to come to such an opinion.
