I made some bench anvils out of 4140. They are 4"x4"x 12"-14" long.I
machined two side to a sharp corner and left the other sides alone. The
material was what is called round- cornered square so there are radiused
edges and now one sharp square one.
On one end I sawed a 45 degree angle to make a combination tail or if
you roll it over a tapered horn. I drilled a 3/4 in round hole on that
end for hardy tools or for punching. They are oil quenched and seem to be
about 46 Rockwell or hard enough to blunt a center punch. The material
is 56 lbs per foot so they are about 60 lbs.
I use mine on the table or held in a heavy vise. They could be welded
to a base. They are for sale- $100.00 each plus shipping. I have a lot of
this material and can make them with other features like drilled and
tapped holes. Bob
Can you send me a pic off list?
Thanks
Mark
