i have to say that i would recommend against a powder coat....
they really don't hold up that well to higher temp ranges 350f and
above....... (these are the temps use to set them)
also on steel powder coating without a zinc deposition layer will not really
give you a good rust proofing (or bond for that matter as rust developing
under the coat will peel it like a bananna) the zinc coat would ruin any
surface coloring you would have...... (looks just like thick
galvanization.....)
anywho just my 2 pennies on that one.........

Nice Looking piece, Dan. A clear powder coat comes to mind. Should have
enough heat resistance for a hot pot. Nice design, it would also look good
with three folding legs to hold a pot over a small fire for coffee on cold
war mornings.
