Well, let's see....your subject line says Mig.....
Several years ago I got an inexpensive Lincoln Weldpack 100. It has
served me well for light duty mig work. It has no gas and I use flux
cored wire.   It cost me no where near your $500 limit, so surely there
is something bigger in either Lincoln or Miller line that will suit you.
