Ok...

   Now I see where I'm missing the thread here.  Lapping is
specifically using one part and a compound to make a perfect fit with
it's mate, as in fitting engine valves.
    What I am starting to realize is that, apparently, we are speaking
of  "honing" and yes... a brake cylinder hone is hard to beat for
smoothing small bores.  It's also easy to make a bore out of round or
tapered with one.  Use lots of oil to keep the hone flushed clean ,
don't get in a hurry and keep it moving longitudinally in the bore.
It's easy to hang one of these up at any sort of speed and the stones
will clog up in a heart beat if you don't keep them flushed.   Sorry
for the misunderstanding.
