[TheForge] Torch stuff

There's been some mention recently of the barrel type torches that
are sometimes used on CNC cutting tables. I think someone
mentioned that a plasma torch for this use costs about $500. I
have no idea what any oxy-acet. barrel torch costs.

At the moment I'm interested in converting an oxy-acet torch to an
inline setup so it would be similar to a barrel torch. At the point
where a regular hand-held torch makes the 90 degree bend it
seems that it might be possible to machine a part that would
accept a torch tip and attach it to the torch handle in line. In reality
I think it would be easier to cut off the end of the torch where the tip
goes and braze it on to an adapter of some sort and attach it to the
torch handle.

We have a oxy-acet barrel torch now but it is part of a Victor
pantograph torch set up and don't want to break up the system.
Does anyone know what these Victor pantographs sell for on the
used market?

Finally, I've heard about a cast iron product called a "pyramid" that
is slipped onto the slats of a cutting table to keep them from
getting all cut up. If anyone knows a source for these, I'd
appreciate knowing where they can be bought. At
www.plasmacam.com they show the slats for their machine with
pyramids cut into the slats that helps keep the slats from being
damaged. I understand plasmacam provides a program to cut out
your own slats with these projections on them. There is an
interesting site at www.practicalcnc.com that might be of interest
to anyone thinking about making a CNC torch table.

Thanks in advice for your help.
