OPTIONS:
*You could TIG weld the joints
*You could make it a a shrink fit assembly - Make the holes for the 1/4" brass rod smaller than 1/4" by a few mils, heat the pieces up in an oven to a couple of hundred degrees and slip them together, making sure to hold each piece in place until it cools and "locks" into place. Those machinists out there might give more precise guidelines, but I have done this with machined turbine parts, it works.
