Jacques,
I don't know much about Hans forge, but I would suggest using a propane
pressure guage.  I only use 10 lbs. pressure going into my forge and get
welding heat in 15 minutes.  I also make sure that my needle valve (that
allows the gas to be regulated at the forge orifice opening) is adjusted so
that I get around 5 inches of yellow heat coming out the main opening of the
forge.
