Ray posted excellant information.  The addition of the above should also
be helpful.
I know this is redundant but I think should serve to stress the fact
that when beginning don't start with rod that may possibly be bad, you
will regret it.  Mind your polarity too.  This is a simple rule that
leads to frusration.
