[TheForge] resharpening hammer drill chisels

Does anyone know what type of steel is used in the chisels sold by 
Milwaukee for their electric hammer drills?  My boss had one that he 
reforged to sharpen.  He had used it so much that it was badly 
shaped.  After reforging/sharpening he used it for awhile, then the tip 
fell off.  The steel looked like something came out of it when he was done 
forging.  Sort of a brazed look, but still silver.  No idea what caused it.

Milwaukee tools says not to resharpen the bits, but it was easy and cheap, 
so the boss did it anyway.

Anyone have any experience with this?  Any hints on procedures?
