My Grandfather never locked his doors, or the fuel tanks on his farm. His feeling was that if any one stole from him they needed it more than he. When I was a kid it was very common for the young kids to take a little free gas. It was also a well known that he didn't lock things up. Grandpa didn't live on the farm, but no one would steal his gas. I think that even amongst theives there is a sence of honour.

His other believe was, give and the good lord will always give you something to give.

I find that many of granpa's ideas are alive and well in the blacksmithing community, lets keep it that way.
