I don't disagree.  This is why I think a CAD package is valuble for =
machining, but not so much for other metalworking. =20

However, these packages have some remarkable features.  You CAN create =
simple or exponential scrolls semi-automatically in them.  Whether this is =
worthwhile to you may depend upon your innate artistic talent.  However, I =
don't want folks to think that these programs can't DO these things.

IMHO, for ornamental ironwork, the typical 3D CAD system doesn't really =
fit the bill.  Any scroll work has to be drawn in the system, and it's =
quicker to do it by hand.  If you look in "The Fabricator" there are CAD =
systems that are more oriented to ornamental ironwork with parametrically =
created libraries of scrolls and other details.

The downside is that these are on the pricey side.
