Peter, I think that you are confused when you say without the cost of ins. &
admin. ABANA never insured the chapters... Whatever ins. that ABANA has
is not going to change. And what administration cost would change? ABANA
pays the Exec. secretary and the editors of the 2 publications, nobody else.
That won't be changing either. Most all of the mail to the chapters err,
affiliates
is by e-mail. Not a whole lot of stuff changes other than the name, and
would
not a chapter by any other name, serve the same purpose? The other major
change of course is the liability factor. With no "legal" connection, ABANA
can not be held responsible for fall out from flying anvils etc.
I would be interested to know your feelings on what else we can
do ("of real value") for the smithing community. I am open to
discuss any ideas that anyone has on this subject. The cost of running ABANA
has not been reduced significantly, if at all. So a reduction in dues is not
likely.
