[TheForge] Digest mode

Dave -
I use Outlook.
I have two folders, one for the individual messages, and a separate one for the
digests.
I used to simply read, respond, delete the individual messages, and left the
digests accumulate.
Having the tendency to be something of a packrat (I'm sure no one else here has
that tendency), I have lean toward saving everything, even if I don't see any
need today to keep it, just in case I may need it down the road.
Though it's a little more work, I will probably resort to doing what you are
suggesting, and simply add a folder for saved messages.

Bob,
What are you using for an e-mail reader? You should be able to set up
special folder for the e-mails you want to keep. After reading them in
your IN box you could click and drag the ones you want to keep into the
THEFORGEKEEPERS mailbox and delete the rest. I would think this might be
easier for future perusal than keeping the full copies of the digests.
This is what I do. I use Eudora and it lets me modify the SUBJECT line to
one that makes more sense to me (based on why I wanted to keep a post in
the first place). I can also edit the bodies to delete the innumerable
quoted copy texts if I want to.
If your e-mail software has filters in it, then you can filter all theforge
mail right into THEFORGEKEEPERS mailbox as they arrive. Then all you need
do is delete what you don't want to keep, the rest remain in the mailbox.
This seems a reasonable alternative to what you want.
