Bob,

What are you using for an e-mail reader?  You should be able to set up 
special folder for the e-mails you want to keep.  After reading them in 
your IN box you could click and drag the ones you want to keep into the 
THEFORGEKEEPERS mailbox and delete the rest.  I would think this might be 
easier for future perusal than keeping the full copies of the digests.

This is what I do.  I use Eudora and it lets me modify the SUBJECT line to 
one that makes more sense to me (based on why I wanted to keep a post in 
the first place).  I can also edit the bodies to delete the innumerable 
quoted copy texts if I want to.

If your e-mail software has filters in it, then you can filter all theforge 
mail right into THEFORGEKEEPERS mailbox as they arrive.  Then all you need 
do is delete what you don't want to keep, the rest remain in the mailbox.

This seems a reasonable alternative to what you want.
