[TheForge] I think I found my cad

TurboCAD 3-D version is a nice program. It can be a little quirky, and the interface isn't completely intuitive, but the results are good. I haven't worked with a 2D version for years, so don't know.

For 2D I recommend Intellicad. I tried this and was very impressed before I got back into TurboCAD. You can download IntelliCAD free, but it may be shareware. You can download a manual that's at least 200 pages long, and well worth the printing time, free. The interface struck me as completely intuitive. Last I looked, I don't think there was a 3-D version available.

Thanks, all night I was looking around and thought of TurboCad, sure enough they give their 2d version 6 away. I does both dwg and dxf files, all I need for the laser cut and me. To top it off with your advice I have found several other programs that will come in handy. Thanks Bob and everyone else.
