Hi All,

Sorry I forgot to post the link I promised yesterday about the LCD
upgrade for the 8563E.

Here is the link:

Here is the description of the procedure that is involved:
http://www.testequipmentplus.com/docs/TFT2-RK%20Manual.pdf

The following step convinced me that I did not want to proceed with
this at this time>>>2-46:

Remove from your A2 controller board IC’s U204, U205, U207, U209, and
U212 as shown in Figure-3.
CAUTION:
Care should be taken to use proper desoldering
techniques because this is a delicate multilayer PCB for which there
are no replacements.

Whether I did the procedure or had TEP do it, this was just too much
of a hack for me to subject my 8463E to, given that it is still fully
functional, albeit with a display that is a bit dim.

Cost of the mod kit is reasonable at $995, and the $250 additional for
installation is also reasonable. If it weren't such an extreme hack,
I'd do it, as the result looks far better than the original ever did.

If you have a later series, the LCD replacement does NOT necessarily
involve removing the ICs, so it is then a more attractive option.
