Doug,

I use a TS-330/TSM and have for 30+ years. Late 50's vintage so it's
vacuum tube based. Technically, it is a Crystal Impadance Meter. But if left
with the adjustments made, all I have to do to cull duds and get a relative
idea of crystal activity is turn it on, plug the crystal in, and tweek the
tuning dial. It has a wierd socket that takes most 2-pin and 3-pin holders.
So it handles TCS crystals plus FT-171, FT-243, DC-30, CR-1, etc. Covers 0.8
to 15 MC. Others in the series cover lower and higher frequencies but .8
to 15 covers 95% of my routine testing.

I don't know whether the pins on the HC-6/U are long enough for the socket
or not but if not, then take an HC-6/U socket and solder two pins to it.
Spacing not critical.

As to where to find one, I don't have any current leads but you might start
with Fair.
