Thanks Mark. That's exactly were I am. Removed the crt cover to clean it and two of those switch fingers fell out, which explained some of the weird displays. I have the front panel switch assembly torn down and have remounted one of the two wipers so far. Luckily HPs documentation is superb and explains every step of the process. But it's not for the faint of heart! I would like to hear from someone who has been there and was successful to boost my confidence that it can be done!

The first step is to make sure you can recover the contact(s), hopefully they are still floating around inside there. Then you have to gain access to the switch(s). HP may have made this easier than it looks if the front panel can somehow be swung away from the mainframe then you may have an easy time of doing this repair assuming it is a contact reglueing job and not something else.
