    Same here.  I have a very good Tek DMM but I can't use 
it for some measurements because the numbers never sit 
still. It does have a psueo meter but its not the same as 
the real thing.  Different analogue meters are good for 
different things. One of my most used instruments is a plain 
Triplett 630A.  These are surprizingly accurate and have 
high enough input resistance for most purposes. My other 
favorite is a -hp- 410-B. Mine is a very old one but works 
fine.  The 410-B is my choice for working on very high 
impedance circuits like AVC busses. The DC probe has a 
built-in 22 megohm resistor so has very low stray 
capacitance. I also have a modern bench type -hp- DMM but 
can't remember the model number. Useful for setting 
regulated supplies that must be set accurately.
