[Test-Equipment] Soldering Equipment

Yes indeed. In fact, I bought my first Metcal system a year ago.

The MX-5000 is one of the best and most versatile stations I've come across in 30 years. Loads of different tips available, both new and used, and even the prices for new tips are pretty reasonable.

Here's the system I got (the MX-5041 package).

Besides exceptional quality in construction, Metcal is an RF-based soldering system (3 and some-odd MHz, if I recall correctly). This is why the handpieces all use Type F connectors. Tremendous power without any worry about overheating whatever you're working with, and the really neat thing is you can use a conventional cable TV A/B switch (or even a chain of them) to give yourself as many extra solder outlets as you want (in case you want to run more than the standard handpiece and tweezers without shelling out for another power unit).

	Happy hunting.
