You might consider some handles offered by McMaster-Carr, shown here:

I have used both the plastic-coated steel handle, #12535A25, for $ 8.26, and
the very similar all-plastic handle #12535A17, for $ 3.03. These are items
16 and 19, respectively, at the lower right corner of the above linked page.
I have used the steel-cored handle on some heavy power supplies, after
carefully determining the center of gravity so that the unit hangs straight
down when carried.

How about a source of the plastic-covered metal handles like on the
182 display-mainframe?
