[Test-Equipment] HP 34401A disassembly?

Got 2 of these, reportedly non-working. The sheet metal comes off 
easily (bumpers front and rear, then the back panel, then the sheet 
metal slides off).

The front panel/display is another thing altogether. Remove one 
screw, each side. Then 4 "pem nuts" staked into the U-shaped chassis 
capture the sides of the front panel. The service manual shows (no 
description, only one simple drawing) that one end of the display 
simply rotates away from the chassis:

I'd like to hear from anyone who has done this before. I don't want 
to pry on the panel for fear of cracking the ABS (I think it's 
ABS...).
