I agree, Carl. I had forgortten those packages they took for evaluation and could never find again.

I demand an on site inspection which often results in them settling for a 
full set of photos.

If they want the item back AFTER the claim is paid that is OK but I usually 
try for "salvage rights" by claiming a little under the insurance. It always 
pays to put a high insurance on the label.

On poorly packed items I dont even bother with a claim and often refuse 
delivery when its obviously a lost cause.

I have daily UPS pickup and my volume is almost all heavy items in the 
40-130# range. UPS hasnt damaged more than 3-4 items that I have packed in 
about 15 years.
