I have the Dick Smith tester also.
It was a great kit using the best components except for the jacks which I
replaced with quality US made parts.
Definitely a worthwhile unit....but, you should be experienced in assembling
small part kits.
You might be able to find one used somewhere...or an old stock kit.

I have used the Dick Smith ESR Meter,
the first version. It can read down to
.01 ohms. I have also used it to find 
shorted components on PCBs. 
It sold as a kit form, I think about $50
several years ago.

But, as I look up the information, it looks
like it is no longer sold by Dick Smith.
But there are some companies that make similar
