   I have both, (75 Ohm RF out version) the marker unit is only handy when very precise edges of 
filters are necessary and such.  I am sure you can mix an external RF source like with other sweep 
generators for external markers.  Usually I don't bother with the marker unit, I just reduce the 
sweep width to see where edges of things are.
