This is not a comment on the condition of the meter J listed.
Lawrence,
If you think that New Old Stock (NOS) means the same thing as new, you're
not a collector and don't understand the terminology. Never assume that NOS
means like brand new, or you'll get burned sooner or later. The meter might
be. And being new enough to probably have an AlNiCo V magnet probably
works just as it did when it was new. But if you buy NOSB cables, or components
with cables, from the WW-II or Korean War era and expect them all to be
just like brand new, you are in for a rude awakening. I once bought four NOSB
(sealed in individual foil bags) earphone cushions for the TBY headset.
When removed from the bags, three looked and felt like they probably did the
dayin 1943 that they were sealed up. The fourth looked and felt like a
partially roasted orange and gray marshmellow.
Those two reasons (the actual effects of age on various components and the
fact that a lot of people don't understand the potential differences between
new and NOSB) are two of the reasons why I never sell unopened NOSB parts
or units (there are other reasons, too).
