     If the internals of the 608B are anything like the 
later versions the calibration can probably be brought back 
on spec. In the later 608's the oscillator coils are 
ajustable even though it is not obvious. Each has either an 
isolated section or a shorted turn which can be moved a bit 
for adjusting the low end. Also, the dial can be slipped. 
That gives you three adjustments for each band and one 
overall adjustment (the dial). 608 C,D,E,F dials were 
individually calibrated and I suspect the earlier ones were 
too. Unless the dial has been swapped the calibration 
accuracy is much better than the published spec.
