I don't think so at least in the 50s and 60s. We built all 
of our productionline test equipment. The HP/Tek stuff was 
either highly modified and integrated into specific test 
stations or remained in cludges in the engineering depts. 
These were general types in the early days of voltmeters, 
signal gens and scopes and were not suited for operation by 
production test personnel. In the 50s I worked "down the 
street" from HP and consulted with them a lot as I was the 
manager for test at Sylvania microwave tube lab. BTW, I 
consulted for and from them as I was instrumental in their 
development of their first spectrum analyzer, made them 
klystrons for the 614 and 616 sig gens and they helped with 
my TWT testing. At one time I was HPs largest single 
equipment buyer at $500K/yr. This was just after the 
industry was busted for giving out freezers and fur coats. I 
got some great lunches, however.
