[Test-Equipment] Transistor part numbers

In the US standard (JEDEC) numbered semiconductors are marked with a the 
number of junctions followed by an 'N' (do not know why) and then a 
sequential registration number. Diodes (one junction) are marked 1Nxxx. Two 
junction devices (SCR, bipolar transistors and the like) are marked 2Nxxx. 
Three junction devices (MOSFETS) are marked 3Nxxx. Four junction devices 
(opticouplers) are marked 4Nxx.

Japan uses a system where the N is replaced by an S and usually another 
letter. The other letter tells additional information about the device.
