Hi J,
I have a 3586C that has a bad battery. It had leaked on the board and caused power supply problems. I cleaned all the residue from the battery off the board and it worked ok. I am now operating it without any battery at all. I don't know what the voltage is supposed to be or what it is for. I am guessing it is for memory of some of the front panel settings.
Regards
