I have a Tek 1230 logic anaylzer tyhat I bought new, with a service
contract that was supposed to cover everything, probes, mainframe, the
works. 4 months after purchase, the power supply packs it in. 6 months
after purchase, one of the probes does. 9 months after purchase, the
power supply packs it in again.

Then they tell me that the power supply and probes are no longer covered
under the service contract and I'll have to pay for the power supply
repair. I demanded a refund on the service contract ($500). They
refused. I told the customer service person that I would never again buy
a new Tektronix instrument. When 1 year was up they actually called me
about renewing that contract. Boy, did I read them the riot act.

I've never bought Tek new since then. Used is another matter. I don't
expect to deal with Tek on an obsolete product.
