I agree, the testers will not do a good job on transmitter tubes. They are
best tested in realistic voltage and current load conditions, and a general
purpose tube tester cannot provide that much realism in its tests. BTW,
6146 was not designed as a sweep tube, if I recall correctly, it was
specifically designed for transmitter service. That is supposed to be why
it has better linearity than typical of sweep tubes.

This is probably true. The testers I've used don't even to a good job on
the higher current receiver tubes like the 6LB6 and so on.
