After reading the QST article and remembering participation
in the test from years past, I have gotten two of the locals
who have no HF experience to agree to sit with me as we
try to resolve this particular test. We will be using my LM
and an old Dumont 5" scope.
The results will be undoubtedly less accurate than that of
others, but in the spirit of the test, these two guys will see
something in action that they wouldn't be able to otherwise
imagine and possibly learning something, and I'll be able to
dredge up some old memories and have a great time to boot.
Anyone else remember the anticipation, the endless
conversations about how we "could get it better than the last
run", the coffee and tuna fish sandwiches while waiting for
the run to start, the power supply or some obscure connector
or equipment failures, the band conditions which wouldn't
cooperate, the waiting for the next QST with the high scoring
stations, and all of that?
Thanks de John
