I built my own TR503 clone (http://www.qsl.net/ke5fx/tr503.html) -- if yours
is in bad enough shape, it might be easier to strip it and repackage it in a
standalone enclosure, I suppose.  Either way, though, the manual would be
pretty important.  Don's comments about the outboard pass transistor are
interesting, I hadn't heard that.  Still, if you knew what the regulator
output was supposed to be, you could probably supply it externally.

www.consolidatedsurplus.com has rental manuals for both the TR503 and 2753,
but it's not clear that the former has schematics.
