Greetings all.
I just picked up an HP GPS time/frequency standard and antenna on
"the auction place" :-)
It looked like it could have been related to the 58503A unit,
especially since the antenna was an HP 58504A. However, when
I got it open, none of the board markings seems to support the
58503A connection. It has two 10 MHz SMA connectors, several
19.xxxx MHz SMA connectors and several 1 PPS SMA connectors.
The power connector is a 3 pin XLR connector. The GPS antenna
is a type N connector. (This is a bit fun because the antenna
itself uses a TNC connector.)
The main board was marked Z3816-xxxxx. This indicates to me the
board was originally designed for a Z3816 unit. I also believe
the Z prefix indicates an export item or possibly and OEM item.
(OEM would make sense, since this unit was clearly removed from
some larger assembly.)
The 1996 HP catalog doesn't have anything, and I can't find my
1998 catalog. (The unit has a 1997 calibration sticker.)
Does the Z3816 or 3816 GPS unit sound familiar to anyone?
Thanks in advance.
