Hi Gil and everyone,
Well, you're really pushing the limits of my memory, so based on a
little experience and a lot of speculation, here's what I've come up
with:
140 series: conventional CRT
141 series: storage CRT
A/B suffix: oscilloscope applications
S/T suffix: has additional hardware necessary for SA applications, but
can be used with scope plug-ins as well. In 1970, the T mainframes
replaced the S models, and enabled the use of the 8443A/B tracking
generator. The S models required modifications to use the 8443A/B.
143A/S: large screen (8 x 10 inch), conventional CRT, oscilloscope
applications for both versions, SA available on S model only. Target
market: demonstrations, lectures, etc.
Regards,
Stan
